Michel Morant is presently the Managing Director of University-Industry Liaison Office of the University of Liege. Michel Morant graduated in electromechanical and electrical engineering at University of Liege in 1979, than a MBA in 1982 and a PhD in 1984. During this period, he has been working at the ULg as a Research Engineer in the Electrical Engineering Department, in charge of Industrial contracting.

In 1986, he joined the Power Transport and Distribution Division of the AEG Daimler-Benz group, became member of the managing board in 1990, and vice-president in charge of the R&D and commercial departments in 1995. The main scope of activities was developing new high voltage high current switchgears, and was a Visiting Professor at University of Liege during this period.

He was appointed in 1998 by the University of Liege to reorganise the technology transfer department – Interface Entreprises-University of Liege – in charge, patenting, licensing, and spin off activities. Now, with a team of 50 employees, Interface is in charge of knowledge transfer, including continuous education for companies, and cross fertilisation and technology marketing toward companies.

He is also CEO of Gesval, which is the company of ULg for technology transfer, and co-CEO of Spinventure, the seed capital fund of Liege. In 2002, he launched the first Patlib Center in Belgium, and is now vice-president of Picarre, the Walloon Agency for IP. He is or has been a member of several boards of directors of high tech companies like Nanocyl, Kitozyme, Mithra, Uteron, Ampacimon, Symbiose biomaterials He is CLP and RTTP certified, and member of international associations like ASTP-Proton, TII, LES, CURIE, AUTM. He was a founding member of LIEU, the Belgian association of TTO’s, and of SPOW, the Belgian association of Science Parks, member of IASP.

Finally, he launched the Liege Creative initiative, a permanent forum for knowledge exchange gathering scientist, entrepreneurs, artists, public servers, students, aiming at an ID factory.
