Wim Van Camp
Wim Van Camp holds a PhD in plant molecular biology from Ghent University and an Executive MBA from the Leuven-Ghent Vlerick Management School.
He started his professional career as senior researcher at Ghent University and VIB, a life sciences research institute in Belgium. In 1998, he joined CropDesign, a start-up company active in the field of agricultural biotechnology. At CropDesign, he held various management positions in research, innovation and business development.
He participated in the successful company sale of CropDesign to BASF in 2006. From 2007 to 2011, he oversaw a global research program in the world’s largest plant biotechnology collaboration between BASF and Monsanto.
In 2012, he took global responsibility for strategic asset management of the plant biotechnology division of BASF, in combination with a function as Managing Director of CropDesign.
Since 2014, he has been head of the TechTransfer division of Ghent University. In this function, he is responsible for intellectual property, licensing, commercial partnerships, spin-offs, open innovation and science parks.
